John D. McClune has substantial experience as a litigation attorney and appellate lawyer nationwide.  John is currently litigating complex labor and pension benefit cases, including recent opioid multidistrict litigation involving various union groups, health funds and pension funds.  John also has litigated various high profile, mass disaster aircraft crash cases across the country and abroad, propane gas explosion cases, and other significant catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.  John has substantial product liability litigation experience nationwide.  Prior to joining the firm, John had a significant impact on highly technical legal issues involving multidistrict aviation litigation, including the legal arguments advanced in the air disasters of TWA Flight 800, Comair Flight 3272, US Air Flight 427, United Airlines Flight 585, and in In re Air Crash at Lexington, Kentucky, on August 27, 2006, In re Air Crash Disaster Near Roselawn, Indiana, on October 31, 1994, In re Air Crash at Agana, Guam, on August 6, 1997, to name a few.

In conjunction with his practice, John lectures across the country on current legal issues in aviation law for prestigious organizations such as the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. He has been published in SMU’s Journal of Air Law and Commerce, and has authored various articles on aviation issues, jurisdiction, The General Aviation Revitalization Act, the Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention, and IATA Intercarrier Agreements, which have been published throughout the country.  John has also authored amicus curiae appellate briefs pro bono, and provides research and briefing services to other lawyers in cases involving very complex legal issues.
