Maria Meldrum represents clients, including architects, engineers, land surveyors, geologists, and contractors in construction, environmental, and commercial litigation matters, including related transactional maters. She practiced as a civil engineer in California and Michigan and brings 10 years of practical civil engineering experience in design, construction, hydrology and hydraulics, and general engineering practice to the practice of law.
In her legal career, she has litigated/arbitrated claims related to: groundwater contamination and remediation; green roof design for archival facilities; structural design related to stadium construction; the operation/malfunction of pump, wet well, and screening units at wastewater treatment facilities; hydraulic and hydrologic issues related to a sanitary and storm sewer design; structural design, delay and project management issues in the construction of a 5000 seat sanctuary; asbestos claims related to an appliance manufacturing facility; design issues related to the explosion of a fireworks manufacturing facility; the design, manufacture and installation of heat exchangers in an engine testing facility; flooding issues allegedly caused by road design and improvements; the use of hydrophobic agents in masonry materials; and contract claims related to the construction of college campus facilities. She has also assisted the litigations related to legal malpractice claims.
Ms. Meldrum is a member of the American Arbitration Association Construction Panel and has served as an arbitrator on both small and complex mattes. She is licensed as an attorney in MI and CA and licensed as an engineer in CA, AZ and MI.
